Large coral head at Maumae Beach

This large mound coral about 10 ft diameter, Porites lutea, is in recovery mode. It is located northwest of Maumae beach south of Kawaihae Reef. The fish are 5″-6″ long for scale comparison.

Water temperature 84ºF  28.9ºC. Mound coral colonies observed show no signs of bleaching at this time.
