This is a visual survey of the remaining coral reef and coral that re-populate the man-made beach in the Kawaihae Harbor since the harbor was constructed after destroying the Kawaihae Reef in 1959. Water temperature 83.8F 10:30 local time.
The coral reef appears unaffected by the surface sediment as seen on October 06, 2022 ( see here). keola sailboat’s grounding december 2020
The Keola sailboat went aground in late December 2020 due to strong winds. It was extricated fairly quickly that morning.
