The images below show the washed-out road near the gulch’s outflow. The road appeared to be constructed on coral fill without protective measures against the potential for flash floods. Water temperature 83.8F 10:30 local time.
The coral reef appears unaffected by the surface sediment as seen on October 06, 2022 ( see here). This is consistent with the previous observations of runoffs except for the August 17, 2015 flash flood that covered the entire inner harbor reef with silt.… Read more “post runoffs (10/5 -10/6/2022)survey”
Update 11.17.2022. Water visibility is still murky. Floating debris is mostly dissipated. The sediment of small and large branches, other organic material and goat pellets are still visible at hightide lines. Heavier branches and organic materials settled on the bottom along the shore soon after the runoffs are still there.
