DAR coral replant and inner harbor reef status
Lindsey Kramer of the Division of Aquatic Resources, DAR, and assistant Julia Rose of Nature Conservancy spent over two hours on May 10, 2017, replanting coral on the inner harbor of Kawaihae Reef. We were out on a calm day with fair visibility. This area is recovering nicely. 4.18.2017 Flash flood left more sediment and eroded beach at Pelekane Bay


Recent flash flood from rain storm on April 18, 2017, added more sediment to Pelekane Bay and eroded its beach. The bay width is reduced from 1/4 to 1/3.
