
As expected, this Antler Coral grew at least 5 cm annually or perhaps even more than the average, as shown. I have organized the images as best as I could, given the underwater conditions.
Estimating or measuring growth height is challenging because living things like coral grow in complex ways. The polyps expand in multiple directions. The best I could do was take photos based on memory, amid the constantly shifting ocean conditions.
My conservative estimate is that this Antler coral exceeds the species’ recorded average. A bit of good news.
