Manta rays were observed traversing Hapuna Beach to Mauna Kea Beach, Hawaii, on three separate occasions (days) between 9 am and 10 am. Hypothesis: Manta rays commute near shore in a familiar route, where there are feeds they will make stops. Some may end up congregating at Kawaihae Break wall during surf season. At these times in the day, they appear to be resting, hence minimal propulsion efforts and gliding. At 3:59, one of the manta rays seems to have a hypnic or sleep jerk. (September 2017)
