Lindsey Kramer of Division of Aquatic Resources, DAR and assistant Julia Rose of Nature Conservancy spend over two hours on May 10,2017 replanting coral on the inner harbor of Kawaihae Reef.  We were out on a calm day with fair visibility. This area is recovering nicely . My estimate is about 20% of the condition and coverage prior to the Global Bleaching Event of 2015 and August 2015 Flash Flood.
Lindsey saw a  Honu’ea Hawaiian hawksbill turtle near the area she was working.  Green sea turtles are common here but rare are the hawkbill turtles.
